AWL (Australian Work & Leisure) was founded in 2000 by Bob Frankham.

With decades of experience in engineering design and manufacturing, Frankham’s craftmanship attracted the interest of companies seeking solutions for a more easily accessed, lightweight fibreglass canopy which could fit directly onto a utility tray.

This complex challenge signalled the beginning of Australian Work Leisure (AWL). After researching the domestic and international market, Frankham used his extensive experience in the building, engineering and steel fabrication industries to construct the company’s first composite, ute canopy. Within a short time, AWL grew rapidly to be become Australia’s premier manufacturer.

In the enduring years, sons Daryl and Graham Franklin took over the expanding business and evolved to become AWL Innovations – a world class automotive engineering and design brand.

Today, AWL Innovations enjoys a history of delivering solutions for some of the world’s most iconic fleet and trade organisations. From complex emergency services designs, right through to government and private fleet, AWL’s versatility has also attracted the leisure and recreational industries, capable of handling a variety of climates and environments.

Despite the evolving challenges of complex vehicle emission targets and changing vehicle standards and production, AWL Innovations remains at the forefront of service body design, ensuring fleet investment is future proof.
